Installation of an Operating System and Software

Installation of an Operating System

In the first part of this blog post I  shall explain with the use of images and text how to install an operating system. As my operating system is already installed on my computer and on all the other computers I operate I had to do this on a virtual computer however the process is identical.

First of all insert a USB stick or CD/Disc into the computer where the operating system is stored on (step 1). After you select the Operating System on the storage device of your choice you will get a screen telling you that the computer has started setting up the operating system (step 2). After this a pop-up bow will appear informing you that the installation and expansion of files is/will occur(ing) (step 3).

Step 2

Step 3

After 'Step 3' the machine will turn off and restart. This is to allow it to update more settings. (Step 4)

Step 4

Step 5

Step 6

Step 5 & 6 are also just simply preparing the new settings and installing the operating system.

Step 7

Step 7 is the last step which is where the computer restarts for the final time and is ready for use.
Due to the leaps in technology installing an operating system is very simple and once the operating system is selected from the where it is stored it installs itself.

Installation of Software

The first stage of installing software is selecting the software you would like to install. If the software is on a USB stick or Disc then simply select the software you would like to install. The auto-run setup file will then automatically start to download/install the software. (Step 1)

Step 1

Once the install setup file you will receive a pop up box like the one shown in 'Step 2', it will not be identical as you may not be installing the same software as I (Libra Office). You need to select 'next'

Step 2

After step 2 you will be asked how you would like to install the software. My advice would be to select the 'Typical' or 'Default' option rather than the 'Advanced' selection, this is more advanced. (Step 3)

Step 3

Step 4

You will then get asked in step 4 whether you would like to create any desktop short-cuts to the software. This is completely your choice. My advice would be if you know you will be using a certain piece of the software regularly then choose this for a desktop short-cut.

Step 5

After all of these stages are completed the software will finally install. Some software's require the computer to restart others do not. This is how to install software.
